Council Meeting April 10th, 2024 Highlights

The Municipality of Kincardine Council Meeting was held in Council Chambers at 1475 Concession 5, RR #5 Kincardine at 5:00 p.m.

Highlights from the meeting include: 

Physician Recruitment and Retention Healthcare Priority Program 

The Municipality has been working with Saugeen Shores for a Healthcare Partnership Program. Council directed the Mayor and CAO to work with Saugeen Shores to advance a request to Bruce Power to fund the Program. 

Bike Lane Use by Mobility Scooters 

The Municipal Accessibility Advisory Committee requested consideration for usage of designated bike lanes for mobility scooters. Council confirmed that mobility scooters are not permitted on the road within the bike lanes and shall continue to use sidewalks where available per the Highway Traffic Act. 

Tree Ad Hoc Committee Recommendations 

The Tree Canopy and Natural Vegetation Policy will to help support the overall protection and enhancement of tree canopy within the community, through measurement and reporting, education and awareness, specific programs, and regulation. 

The Regulate Native Trees on Private Property By-law focuses on native species and is putting forward an approach that provides multiple exemptions to the regulation. 

Council will consider adoption of the Policy and the By-law on the May 8, 2024 agenda. 

Upcoming Meetings 

The next Municipality of Kincardine Council meeting is scheduled for 5:00 p.m. on Wednesday, April 24, 2024. This meeting will be held in Council Chambers at the Municipal Administration Centre, 1475 Concession 5, RR #5 Kincardine.
