Recognitions, Memorials, and Flags

The Municipality offers several ways for residents to recognize achievements, honour loved ones, or request community-focused displays. These recognitions include community flag raisings, dedicated benches, and other forms of acknowledgement guided by our municipal policies.

Municipal Flag Poles

The Municipality maintains permanent Canadian flags on all municipal flag poles. From December to April, these flags are temporarily removed due to recurring weather-related damage. When a situation arises that requires flags to be flown at half-mast under the Municipal Flag Protocol Policy, the flags will be re-installed for the duration of the half-masting period and then removed again until spring. Proclamations

Council does not make any proclamation on behalf of any group or entity.

Community Flag Poles

Requests for displaying flags or flag raising's are considered according to the Municipality of Kincardine's adopted Flag Protocol Policy.

A completed Flag Flying Request Form must be submitted at least 4 weeks prior to the requested flag flying start date.

Dedicated Benches

The Municipality of Kincardine's commemorative bench program is open for the season and accepting applications on a first-come, first-served basis. Applications will remain open until all available spaces are filled for the year.

If you are interested in the program this season, please review the details of the program and complete the application form. After an application is submitted, staff will follow up to confirm the available locations.

Provincial and National Champions

Council recognizes any person or group that wins a national or provincial competition. If you are representing a group deserving of this recognition you can contact by e-mail or call 519-396-3491 ext. 7301.
