Current Job Opportunities

The Head Instructor / Lifeguard will ensure the safety of pool users. This position will assist with coordination of pool staff, organize aquatics activities, provide swimming instruction, complete pool maintenance, and respond to emergencies in the pool.

Reporting To: Aquatics Supervisor

Responsibilities:
1.    Provide swimming lessons, water safety education and other activities for individuals and groups such as the preschool lessons, adult private lessons, and the special needs swim program
2.    Develop lesson plans and activities to instruct individuals and groups of all ages
3.    Assess skill levels of individuals and prepare progress reports
4.    Test individuals and award successful completion of Red Cross levels and Lifesaving awards
5.    Observe swimmers to monitor safety and enforce rules and standards
6.    Respond and perform rescues in accordance with emergency procedures
7.    Provide first aid for the public which may include operation of an Automated External Defibrillator
8.    Provide orientation and training for new employees and promote water safety
9.    Maintain water levels and conduct pool tests to ensure quality of water and take corrective actions to maintain water chemistry
10.    Monitor and assign pool maintenance work and ensure that work areas are maintained in a clean and safe manner.
11.    Inspect and monitor the condition of pool equipment
12.    Respond to questions from the public, giving out information and resolving problems
13.    Accept and log payments such as for swim passes and admissions
14.    Monitor the performance of staff and provides information to the Aquatics Supervisor
15.    Clean and sanitize all areas of the pool and health club
16.    Process registrations, maintain class lists for swimming lessons and complete other administrative tasks as necessary
17.    Gather statistical information related to pool activities, drop-in programs, and daily revenue
18.    Order materials for programs and events
19.    Adhere to Municipality of Kincardine corporate policies and procedures
20.    Complete other duties as assigned by Management

Education & Experience Requirements:
•    Possess a Standard First Aid with CPR “C”
•    Possess a current National Lifeguard certificate
•    Lifesaving Society Instructor certificate & Lifesaving Learn to Swim Instructor certificate
•    Assistant Supervisor Training (AST)
•    Required to have at least 50 hours of Lifeguard/Instructor experience
•    Must be 16 years old

•    Positive attitude and ability to work in a team environment
•    Demonstrates initiative
•    Ability to follow health and safety procedures

Employment Information:
•    Permanent, Part-Time
•    Hours of Work Will Vary - approx. 15 per Week
•    Primarily Day Shifts but may be required to work during evenings, and weekends
•    Compensation = Group 4 (Step 1 $26.04 per hour - Step 5 $ 32.55 per hour)
