Estate Niches

The Municipality of Kincardine is exploring the possibility of doing a pilot project for the Kincardine Cemetery where estate niches may be made available as a memorial option.

These would be an alternative to the tower columbarium option already available for inurnments.

What is an estate niche?

Much like a columbarium, it's a memorial place for cremated remains.

The example you see below is from the Listowel Cemetery, and it shows their circular columbarium next to the smaller estate niches.

Estate niches are an excellent alternative to purchasing full burial plots to be used for burial of ashes.

The pedestal-style memorial is typically available with two or four niches, with each niche capable of holding up to two urns (depending on their size/shape.)

What kind of estate niche would be available?

We would be offering the two-niche and four-niche style of memorials.

Colour would be consistent for all of them, and they would be installed in the Kincardine Cemetery's "Scattering Gardens".

Memorial plaques mounted to the face of the niche would also be standardized in their appearance and size, though personalized through engraving.
