Council Highlights - June 26, 2024

The Municipality of Kincardine Council Meeting was held in Council Chambers at 1475 Concession 5, RR #5 Kincardine at 5:00 p.m.

Highlights from the meeting include:

Draft Community Risk Assessment Report

Ontario Regulation 378/18, requires every municipality, and every fire department in a territory without municipal organization, to complete a review of community risk assessments as provided by the regulation and use its community risk assessment to inform decisions about the provision of fire protection services. Council approved by By-law the Community Risk Assessment (CRA) document prepared by Fire Services; that the CRA process of identification, analysis, evaluation, and risk prioritization be used to inform updates to the Establishing and Regulating (E&R) By-Law for the Municipality of Kincardine Fire Service.

Recreation Financial Assistance Program Report

Council previously approved entering into a Program Partnership Agreement with the County of Bruce who offer a Child Activity Assistance Program (CAAP) which will permit Municipality of Kincardine residents to benefit from a $5,000 annual contribution to the program. Staff met with County of Bruce to further discuss the agreement and some of the questions that arose from Council, particularly regarding how to manage surplus funding. Council passed a By-law to enter into an updated Child Activity Assistance Program Partnership Agreement with the County of Bruce.

Routine Disclosure and Active Dissemination Policy Report

Council adopted the Routine Disclosure and Active Dissemination Policy. The implementation of the Routine Disclosure and Active Dissemination Policy will assist Council, staff, and the public in understanding what records may be disclosed as routine disclosure upon request and what ones will be actively disseminated through various means such as the website and local news outlets on a regular basis. Overall, this will assist the Municipality to improve information about public access to records as well as increase transparency.

The next Municipality of Kincardine Council meeting is scheduled for 5 p.m. on Wednesday, July 10, 2024. This meeting will be held in Council Chambers at the Municipal Administration Centre, 1475 Concession 5, RR #5, Kincardine.
