Council Highlights - October 23rd, 2024

The Municipality of Kincardine Council Meeting was held in Council Chambers at 1475 Concession 5, RR #5 Kincardine at 5:00 p.m.

Highlights from the meeting include:

Draft Comprehensive Zoning By-law Repot

MHBC Planning, Urban Design Landscape Architecture Consulting firm (MHBC) presented the Draft Comprehensive Zoning By-law for Council's consideration. The scope of the draft by-law facilitated proposed changes or amendments that will demonstrate further alignment of the Municipality's long term goals and objectives, along with Provincial direction towards housing, infilling and diversified land uses. Council received the draft By-law as information and directed Staff to hold a Public Open House on October 29th, 2024, and a Public Meeting on November 13, 2024, in accordance with 34(12)(a)(ii) of the Planning Act RSO 1990.

Municipal Surplus Lands Report

Council received information related to several municipally owned properties that could be considered for use in achieving goals related to supporting increased housing options in the community. Disposing of municipal lands for housing development can provide benefits, particularly as communities face increasing housing demands.

Community Sport and Recreation Infrastructure Fund Report

That Council approved a submission to the Community Sport and Recreation Infrastructure Fund to assist in making necessary improvements to the Tiverton Sports Centre’s arena and refrigeration plant.

Upcoming Meetings

The next Municipality of Kincardine Special Council Meeting is scheduled for 5:00 p.m. on Wednesday, November 6, 2024; and the next Regular Council Meeting is scheduled for 5:00 p.m. on Wednesday, November 13, 2024. These meetings will be held in Council Chambers at the Municipal Administration Centre, 1475 Concession 5, RR #5 Kincardine.
