Presentation from Sectors of Local Economy

Council heard from speakers from each of the three key industries in the Municipality of Kincardine, including tourism, agriculture, and the nuclear energy production sector.

Tourism Sector

Kim Clarke, Regional Tourism Organization 7, provided a presentation.

Agricultural Sector

Chris Cossitt, President - Bruce County Federation of Agriculture, provided a presentation.

Nuclear Sector

Jennifer Edey, Bruce Power, Senior Vice-President, Operational Services & Business Development, provided a presentation.

Key Economic Pillars for Kincardine and Municipal Surplus Lands - CAO General-2023-27

Council directed that a special meeting be held to consider the opportunity to make decisions about potential lands owned by the municipality which could be declared surplus in order to help support affordable housing in the community.

Staff were directed to bring a report back on the following properties regarding their potential land development uses:

• Brucedale Community Centre - 1046 Concession 12, legally known as CON 13 PT LOT 11, Roll No. 410826000318100
• Elgin Market Park & Former Landfill - LOT 34 TO 38 PRINCES W/S PT LOT 36 TO PT LOT 40 QUEEN E, Roll No. 410822000113901
• Vacant Lot on Birchwood Avenue, Legal Description PLAN 3M210 BLK 15, Roll No. 410821000500628;

Council directed Staff to bring back a report regarding 543 Bervie Sideroad Roll No. 410821000122100 on what portion of the property could be made surplus to the needs of the Municipality.

Council made the following properties surplus to the needs of the Municipality:

Council directed staff to bring back a report on what municipal lands would be appropriate for cooperative housing initiatives.
