❗ For those asking about warming centres:
Warming centres are meant to provide space for the public to get temporary, short-term relief from the cold, which is why these are usually operated during regular business hours. Our local warming centres include both Tiverton and Kincardine’s branches of the Bruce County Library and the Davidson Centre, all during operating hours.
You can get a complete list of warming centres throughout the region from Grey Bruce Public Health at https://www.publichealthgreybruce.on.ca/Your-Environment/Healthy-Environments/Extreme-Weather.
Several local agencies work to make sure those who may need assistance during this weather have the supports they need to safely get through these wintery months. If you know of someone who could use support, please contact 2-1-1.
Evacuation centres are used in emergency situations as temporary care/shelter locations and are operated cooperatively with other agencies to help those displaced by the emergency. These circumstances would extend facility hours.
Please, stay home and stay safe.
Thank you for your cooperation and understanding.
