Facility Closures and Program Updates - February 17, 2025 - 7 a.m. Update

Happy Family Day, everyone! As of 7 a.m. this morning Monday, February 17th, 2025, we are under a Significant Weather Event declaration and a snow squall warning. We have facility and road closures along with programming changes:

🟢 The Davidson Centre is open from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. for those who can arrive safely. Family Day programming is being rescheduled including:
⛔ Public Skating sponsored by Kincardine Quick Lube
⛔ Family Swim sponsored by Dairy Queen
⛔ Drop-In Gym and Kinder Gym sponsored by MicroAge Basics
⛔ The pool at the Davidson Centre is closed.
⛔ Many of our facilities were already closed for the Family Day holiday. Here's a reminder of what they are:
• Municipal Administration Centre at 1475 Concession 5, Kincardine
• Tiverton and District Sports Centre at 20 McLaren Street, Tiverton
• Kincardine Fire and Emergency Services Administration Office at 127 Mahood-Johnston Drive, Kincardine
• Underwood Satellite Office and Bruce Township Community Centre at 1240 Concession 6, Underwood
• Kincardine Waste Management Centre at 437 Sideroad 15, Armow
• Welcome Centre at 707 Queen Street

We continue to assess conditions and roads and provide updates if there are further closures and cancellations throughout the day.

❗ Operations crews are reporting poor to nil visibility with high winds, heavy drifting, and heavily covered roads across the Municipality. They are advising people to stay off the roads during this storm system to allow their team to concentrate on snow removal.

⛔ The Ontario Provincial Police - West Region are reporting that:
• Highway 21 from Amberley to Southampton is closed
⛔ Bruce County is reporting on https://www.brucecounty.on.ca/road-conditions that the following county roads are closed:
• Bruce Road 4 From Hanover to Walkerton
• Bruce Road 23 From Bruce Road 15 to Bruce Road 20

❗ URGENT - @Kincardine Fire & Emergency Services wants to remind you that after the volume of snow we've had, it's more important than ever to:
➡️ Check and clear the vents outside your home
➡️ Check and clear around the fire hydrant closest to your home
➡️ Check on your neighbours

Please stay home and stay safe.

Thank you for your cooperation and understanding.
