New grants available for Municipality of Kincardine businesses

KINCARDINE, ON – The Municipality of Kincardine in partnership with Bruce County are offering granting opportunities to businesses and property owners in both downtown Kincardine and Tiverton.

At their May 8th, 2024, meeting, Council approved funding to support the Spruce the Bruce program, making it possible for businesses to apply for grants to enhance exterior facades, create new signage, install awnings or patios, and make accessibility improvements.

Earlier this year, the Municipality of Kincardine approved a new Community Improvement Plan (CIP) that expands the scope and number of incentive programs available in the community.

“Supporting our downtown businesses is critical for creating vibrant communities,” said Mayor Kenneth Craig. “With the downtown Kincardine construction last year and businesses in the core of Tiverton now being eligible for funding, staff and Council feel it is crucial to provide additional supports. We also have several new businesses opening and we are thrilled to offer these funding supports as way of thanking them for their interest and investment in our community.”

The expanded CIP area means that businesses in the agri-food and tourism sectors are also eligible to receive funding. In fact, any businesses in the municipality looking to make accessibility improvements may be eligible to apply.

Funds are available on a first-come, first-serve basis. Interested businesses should get their application in early or contact Cherie Leslie, community economic development coordinator, for more information . Completion of the projects before the end of the calendar year is a requirement for all funding.
