Municipality of Kincardine Focuses on the Boardwalk at Upcoming Public Engagement Session

KINCARDINE, ON – Among the best and most beloved assets in the Municipality of Kincardine, the Boardwalk at Station Beach will be taking centre stage at an upcoming public engagement event.

A come-and-go session invites everyone who has a personal interest in the Boardwalk to the Miller Insurance Room at Kincardine’s Davidson Centre on Tuesday, November 21st, 2023, from 6 to 9 p.m. The casual drop-in environment encourages conversation about what the community thinks Station Beach will look like in the future. Pre-registration for the event is not necessary.

Municipality of Kincardine staff and representatives from GM BluePlan Engineering are excited to talk with attendees and to gather input about this outdoor space.

“Our lakeshore areas are some of the most visited and well-loved areas in the Municipality of Kincardine,” said Jayne Jagelewski, Director of Community Services. “Station Beach and our boardwalk are spaces that people are particularly enthusiastic about, whether they’re a resident or tourist. We want to make sure that the plan for these specific areas is one that allows for generational enjoyment.”

This engagement session is building upon the Waterfront Master Plan work done earlier this year. Station Beach became a focus during engagement for this plan with its identification as one of the most frequently visited areas and the boardwalk noted for making the space special.

Among the priorities identified for these spaces were health, safety, and environmental resiliency along the waterfront. The November 21st community engagement session is among the first steps of implementation of the Waterfront Master Plan actions.

The final Waterfront Master Plan is available online at www.kincardine.ca/Waterfront-Master-Plan.
