Trail Blazers Volunteer Program Launches in the Municipality of Kincardine

KINCARDINE, ON – The Municipality of Kincardine is pleased to announce the Trail Blazers Volunteer Program.

Our trails are an important part of our community; enjoyed much of the year by locals and tourists for hiking, cycling, walking and more. The Trail Blazers Volunteer Program provides an opportunity for trail users to assist in keeping our trail systems safe and enjoyable without the need for hazardous physical work.

The Municipality is looking for individuals that frequently use the Kincardine trails and the Inverhuron Trail Park. These volunteers will be the eyes and ears of the Municipality when they are out navigating the trail systems. Their role is to identify any hazards or concerns and report them back to the Community Services department for evaluation and action where required. The presence of these Trail Blazers will greatly enhance the quality and safety of our trails, as well as compliment the great work that our trail working group is currently doing.

For those interested in becoming a Trail Blazer for the Kincardine trails and/or the Inverhuron Trail Park, please e-mail your name and contact information to recreation@kincardine.ca by Friday, October 20^th. Once we receive your e-mail, you’ll get a copy of our Volunteer Management Policy and a request to complete a Volunteer Information Form. 

During the week of October 23^rd, the Community Services department will hold a the first Trail Blazers meeting where we’ll outline the responsibilities, what to look for on the trails, how to report a concern, and more.
