Municipality of Kincardine 2024 Tree Sale

Online Pre-order Starts at 7 a.m. Tuesday, April 2nd, 2024 with Full Payment due at the time of purchase

The 2024 Tree Sale opens online using our Activenet system at 7 a.m. on Tuesday, April 2nd, 2024 at 7 a.m.

You must have an Activenet account to make this purchase, so we advise setting one up in advance of the tree sale going live so that you don't miss out on purchasing your preferred tree(s.) If you have any difficulty with setting-up an Activenet account, please contact us at 519-396-3491.

On Tuesday, April 2nd, 2024, once you have logged into Activenet and it is 7 a.m. or later, enter "Tree Sale" into the search window to find the sales area. 

Residents of the Municipality of Kincardine can pre-order ONLINE ONLY with full payment at the time of purchase this year. There is a limit of 3 trees per property, and they will only be available to residents of the Municipality of Kincardine. If more than 3 trees are purchased per property, your order will be automatically cancelled.

Pick-up Details

• Pick-up date for orders will be Thursday, April 25th, 2024 from 3 to 6 p.m. ONLY.
• Reserved trees must be picked-up during on this day, during this time period, as trees will not be held
• Pick-up location is the Kincardine Public Works Yard at 140 Valentine Avenue, Kincardine.
• You will need to bring a truck or trailer capable of transporting large trees.
• You must bring your receipt with you on the pick-up day as proof of purchase.
• Planiting instructions, along with your receipt, will be e-mailed to you once you have completed the online purchase.

There are 7 species of trees to choose from in the 2024 Tree Sale. All pricing includes taxes.

10' Sugar Maple (Acer Saccharum)
$200 (Retail $415)

• Tree Size: 44mm, 8-10'
• Native to Ontario
• Often used for maple syrup tapping
• Oval, round crown at maturity
• Fall colour is a wonderful mix of orange, red, and yellow
• Beautiful shade tree
• Mature height: 50' - 80'
• Mature spread: 40' - 60'
• Slow to medium growth rate
• Full sun, part shade
• Moist to average well-drained soils

Autumn Fantasy Maple (Acer X Freemanii 'Autumn Fantasy')
$170 (Retail $380)

• Tree Size: 45mm, 8-10'
• Nativar! A cross between our native Red and Silver Maples
• Compact, densely branched, broadly oval crown
• Striking crimson-red fall colour
• Very adaptable
• Great for screening
• Mature height: 40'-50'
• Mature spread: 30'-40'
• Fast growth rate
• Full sun, part shade
• Most well-drained soils - wet or dry

Celebration Maple (Acer X Freemanii 'Celebration')
$170 (Retail $380)

• Tree Size: 44mm, 8-10'
• Nativar! A cross between out native Red and Silver Maples
• Open, evenly branched with a strong central leader and an upright oval crown
• Fall colour red to yellow
• Very adaptable
• Great for screening
• Mature height: 40'-50'
• Mature spread: 30'-40'
• Medium growth rate
• Full sun, part shade
• Most well-drained soils - wet or dry

Canada Red Maple (Acer Rubrum)
$170 (Retail $370)

• Tree Size: 40mm, 8-10'
• Native to Ontario
• Medium sized hardwood tree
• Compact dense crown with spreading ascending branches
• Summer leaves are green that turn red in the fall
• Beautiful shade tree
• Mature height: 35'-50'
• Mature spread: 30'-40'
• Fast growth rate
• Full sun, part shade
• Moist to average to wet soils

Burr Oak (Quercus Macrocarpa)
$160 (Retail $410)

• Tree Size: 45mm, 8-10'
• Native to Ontario
• Pyramidal when young but maturing to round open crown
• Twigs often have corky ridges
• Fall colour is pale yellow to brown
• Makes a beautiful specimen tree
• Supports wildlife
• Mature height: 55'-75'
• Mature spread: 45'-60'
• Medium growth rate
• Full sun
• Moist, average, and dry soils

Paper Birch (Betula Papyrifera)
$150 (Retail $290)

• Tree Size: 40mm, 8'
• Native to Ontario
• Trees will have young reddish developing bark that will mature to white
• Upright, oval rounded crown
• Dark reddish-brown bark when young, maturing to white
• Likes cool roots so underplanting or mulching is advised
• Fall colour turns bright yellow
• Mature height: 50'-60'
• Mature spread: 40'-55'
• Medium to fast growth rate
• Full sun or a little shade
• Moist, average, and dry soils

Serbian Spruce (Picea Omorika)
$100 (Retail $270)

• Tree Size: 125cm, 4'
• Attractive narrow conical crown
• Upright sweeping branch tips
• Needles are green above but silvery beneath
• Lovely specimen tree or great when used as a screen
• Mature height: 40'-60'
• Mature spread: 15'-20'
• Slow to medium growth rate
• Full sun, part shade
• Most well-drained and moist soils

Remaining Inventory

If there is any remaining inventory of trees after Monday, April 15th, 2024, trees will be reserved for residents who have registered on the waitlist. You will be contacted by the Municipality. If you did not register on the waitlist, please e-mail Kelly to be placed on it and you will be contacted accordingly.
