Road, Facility, and Program Updates - December 13th, 2024 - 7:45 a.m. Update
***7:45 a.m. Friday, December 13th, 2024
Good morning, and happy Friday, everyone.
We remain under the significant weather event in the Municipality of Kincardine this morning while clean-up from the blizzard conditions of the past few days continues.
Here are your updates and a few friendly reminders this morning:
➡️ All roads are now open. Please use caution as crews continue to do clean-up. If you choose to travel today, please keep your headlights and taillights on and clear of snow.
➡️ There are multiple sidewalk cleaners currently out and working but it will take time due to the volume of snow. Please be patient.
➡️ Crews are aware of a traffic light at Queen and Durham Streets that was damaged during the bad weather. It will be realigned this morning once plowing is completed, and arrangements are already made for full repair next week.
➡️ The Davidson Centre will open today at 8:30 a.m.
➡️ Programming is set to continue at the Davidson Centre with 9 a.m. pickleball and 9:30 a.m. aquafit programs, along with the remainder of the day's programming.
❗ While you're out shovelling, please remember to clear 1 meter around your closest hydrant, make sure your home's vents are clear, and check on your 911 sign (if you have one) to make sure it's still standing and visible.
❗ Temperatures are expected to climb over the next few days, so clearing any drains on and around your property will help the melt-off get where it needs to be.
THANK YOU to our dedicated operations crew and emergency responders who always go the extra mile. We appreciate you.
THANK YOU also to everyone who was patient and understanding as we weathered another southwestern Ontario winter storm.
Remember to replenish you 72-hour kits and be ready - we technically haven't even hit the official "first day of winter", so there's likely more of snowy days ahead.
Have a wonderful weekend!
