Traffic updates underway throughout the Municipality of Kincardine
Traffic updates to improve road safety throughout the Municipality of Kincardine are underway. Working with collaboratively with local Ontario Provincial Police (O.P.P.), municipal staff systematically reviewed the speed limits set throughout the community on municipally maintained roads in 2023.
Through the evaluation, a recommendation to use a progressive speed reduction came forward as well as housekeeping updates when revising the Traffic and Parking By-law No. 2019-165.
Roads set to 60 km/hr include:
• Broadway Street from Highway 21 to Sutton Street
• Tie Road from Concession 2 to Concession 4
Roads set to 50 km/hr include:
• Bruce Avenue from Highway 21 to Valentine Street
• Concession Road 7 from Sideroad 15 North to 255 meters west of intersection
• Concession Road 7 from Sideroad 15 North to 292 meters east of intersection
• Kincardine Avenue from Highway 21 to Park Street
• Queen Street from Broadway Street to Parker Street
• Sideroad 15 North from Concession 7 to 340 meters north of intersection
• Sideroad 15 North from Concession 7 to 397 meters south of intersection
• Sutton Street from Broadway Street to Philip Place
Roads set to 40 km/hr include:
• Albert Street from Bruce Road 15 to Concession 2
• Concession 6 from Highway 21 to 425 meters west
• Concession 10 from 6 Sprucedale Road to Sunset Drive
• Farrell Drive for its entire length
• King Street from Main Street to North Limit
• Kuhener Street from Lorne Beach Road to dead end
• Lorne Beach Road from Bruce Road 23 to Read Cedar
• Queen Street from Bruce Avenue to Broadway Street
• Scotts Point Road from Zepf’s Drive to Institute Road
• Upper Lorne Beach Road from Lorne Beach Road to Victoria Street
Roads set to 30 km/hr include:
• Victoria Street from Bruce Road 15 to Mystic Cove
Roads set to 20 km/hr include:
• Institute Road from Scotts Point Road to end
• Sunset Drive from Concession 12 to North End
Roads set to 15 km/hr include:
• Lake Street from Bruce Road 15 to Victoria Street
Roads set to 10 km/hr include:
• Goderich Street from Kincardine Avenue to Bruce Avenue
The Municipality posts signs with speed limits for roads which they maintain. For areas without a sign, the default for urban areas is a 40 km/hr maximum speed limit and an 80 km/hr maximum speed limit for rural areas.
Motorists should be aware of the new signs indicating the changes in speeds, follow the rules of the road, and use driving practices that help traffic move safely.
