Tree Sale

The Municipality of Kincardine's 2025 Tree Sale begins at 7 a.m. on Friday, April 4th, 2025! 

Sales are ONLINE ONLY with full payment due at the time of purchase. You must have an Activenet account to make this purchase, so it's a good idea to set one up in advance if you don't already have one - you don't want to miss out on purchasing your preferred tree(s). If you have any difficulty setting up an Activenet account, please contact us at 519-396-3491.

There is a limit of 2 trees per property, and they are only available to residents of the Municipality of Kincardine. If more than 3 trees are purchased per property, your order will be automatically cancelled.

Pick-up Details

The pick-up date for orders is Thursday, May 1st, 2025 from 4 to 7 p.m.

Reserved trees must be picked-up at this time and will not be held. Pick-up location is the Kincardine Public Works Yard at 140 Valentine Avenue, Kinardine.

You will need to bring a truck or trailer capable of transporting large trees. You need to have your receipt with you as proof of online purchase.

Planting instructions, along with your receipt, will be e-mailed to you once you have completed your online purchase.

These are the trees available for sale in 2025. They're all native to Ontario species.

Burr Oak

The Burr Oak available for purchase will be approximately 40-50 mm in diameter and 8 to 10' in height.

  • Pyramidal when young but maturing to round open crown
  • Twigs often have corky ridges
  • Fall colour is pale yellow to brown
  • Makes a beautiful specimen tree
  • Supports wildlife
  • Mature height: 55' - 75'
  • Mature spread: 45' - 60'
  • Medium growth rate
  • Full sun
  • Moist, average and dry soils
Hackberry

Celtis Occidentalis

Hackberry

The Hackberry available for purchase will be approximately 40 mm in diameter and 8 to 10' in height. It is a superb alternative for Ash and Elm trees.

  • Upright, arching branches with a round spreading crown
  • Tolerant of wide range of soil conditions
  • Late to leaf in the spring
  • Fall colour turns bright yellow
  • Mature height: 50' - 60'
  • Mature spread: 40' - 55'
  • Medium growth rate
  • Full sun, part shade, shade
  • Moist, average, and dry soils

The Honeylocust available for purchase will be approximately 40-50 mm in diameter and 8 to 10' in height.

  • Rounded to upright oval crown
  • Leaves emerge late in the spring
  • Green leaflets turning yellow in the fall
  • Thornless variety with horizontal branching
  • Juglan and salt tolerant
  • Drought tolerant once established
  • Creates beautiful dappled shade
  • Mature height: 50' - 60'
  • Mature spread: 40' - 55'
  • Medium growth rate
  • Full sun, part shade, shade
  • Moist, average, and dry soils
Sugar Maple

The Sugar Maple available for purchase will be approximately 40 mm in diameter and 8 to 10' in height.

  • Often used for maple syrup tapping
  • Oval, round crown at maturity
  • Fall colour is a wonderful mix of orange, red and yellow
  • Beautiful shade tree
  • Mature height: 50' - 80'
  • Mature spread: 40' - 60'
  • Slow to medium growth rate
  • Full sun, part shade

  • Rounded open spreading crown
  • Light-green leaves are silvery underneath

  • Makes a beautiful large specimen tree that requires room to grow

  • Upright, pyramidal crown
  • Light green foliage tolerant of pruning

  • Foliage turns a nice bronze colour in winter
  • Makes an excellent screen or hedge
  • Low tolerance of salt
  • Supports wildlife (nesting, food)
