Beaches

The Municipality of Kincardine is extremely fortunate to be situated on over 30km of waterfront along the eastern shores of Lake Huron.  Varied landscapes from our northern to southern boundaries can feature soft white sand to rugged and rocky frontage and everything in between!

We invite you to explore our shoreline, and encourage you to review the categories below to help you best plan for your next visit to the beach and ensure that you are well informed and are able to enjoy safely.

Featured Beach Areas

Station Beach

Station Beach is the perfect place to spend the day with your entire family. With its shallow water, gradual slope, sandy beach, and smattering of pebbles lining the water's edge, it's easy to see why this beach is one of our most popular.

The boardwalk that borders the beach, is a great place to stroll, jog, or to grab a seat on one of the benches scattered along the way to take in the views - HINT - our sunsets are spectacular! The boardwalk can be a learning experience, too. Soak up some local marine history as well as the sun through the interpretive signs with information about local shipwrecks.

Station Beach is quickly becoming a hot spot for SURFING the Great Lakes.  Named as one of Canada's Top 9 Destinations for surfing, this is a spectator's delight. Local businesses offer board rentals on site.

Located adjacent to the Kincardine Harbour & Marina, the municipal boat launch is also located at the north end of the parking lot and is free for all users.

MacPherson Park

A popular lakeside children's park/playground that also features tennis courts and a beautiful shoreline boardwalk and beach.

Dunsmoor Park

The Dunsmoor Park features a beautiful beach and gazebo which is popular for picnics with family and friends and is close to Macpherson Park.

Inverhuron beach

The white sand beach here beckons beachgoers of all ages. Despite the shallow water and a gradual slope into deeper water, strong undertow warning signs are posted. Keep a close eye on children, large and small. Little shade means sunscreen and hats! There are a choice of two accesses to this sandy beach: County Road 15 west of Tiverton or at Inverhuron Provincial Park. Day use fee will apply to access at Inverhuron Park.

For the safety of pedestrians and to expand parking at Station Beach, a new zone has been created for Recreational Vehicles (Trailers, boats, personal watercraft, all terrain vehicles included).

View map to see where recreational vehicles can be parked.

A No Parking Zone/Fire Route has been added adjacent to the boardwalk nearest the boat launch for quick access for first responders in the case of any emergencies.

The lake front is beautiful to look at, fun to swim in and is a big draw for residents and visitors alike.  But with this beauty also comes risks to safety.  We want everyone to be safe this summer while enjoying the water.

Beach Wheelchair

For those that may require mobility assistance, the Municipality of Kincardine is pleased to offer the rental of a Beach Wheelchair to be used at Station Beach. A wheelchair accessible washroom is available at the south end of Station Beach on the lakeside of the cul de sac. A support person is required as the chair cannot be manually pushed by the user due to the large smooth tires.

You can reserve the Beach Wheelchair for free from the Victoria Day long weekend in May through to Labour Day in September. To reserve and for additional details, please contact the Kincardine Welcome Centre at 519-396-2731 or email tourism@kincardine.ca.

The Rotary Club of Kincardine generously donated the beach wheelchair to the community.

MOBI (Mobility) Mat

This portable and durable rollout mat is designed to enhance mobility for pedestrians and individuals experiencing mobility-related disabilities, including wheelchair and mobility scooter users.

The mat provides a portable walkway across the sand allowing for easy access to the waters' edge.

The mat is installed in late June and removed after Labour Day.

The Municipality of Kincardine acquired the Mobi-Mat through the efforts of the Accessibility Advisory Committee and generous donations from Bruce Power and the Kincardine Rotary Club (in partnership with the Kincardine Agricultural Society and Community Foundation Grey-Bruce).

The Municipality of Kincardine has contracted with James Special Services Inc. to temporarily oversee By-law Enforcement during a staffing transition.

To have By-law Enforcement investigate an issue please fill out the 'Report A Concern' form on the Municipality of Kincardine website (link below) or call the dispatch line (available 24/7) at 1-226-910-1322 ex 102.
