Candidate’s Financial Statements

The Municipality of Kincardine is required to make all Candidate's Financial Statements available at no charge for viewing by the public on a website or in another electronic format in accordance with section 88(9.1) of the Municipal Elections Act

Compliance Audit Committee Roles and Responsibilities

The role of the Compliance Audit Committee is to review and consider compliance audit applications received by an eligible elector who believes that a candidate or registered third party advertiser has contravened a provision of the Municipal Elections Act relating to election campaign finances.

The Compliance Audit Committee can:

• consider applications for a compliance audit and therefore grant or reject audit requests within thirty days of receipt;
• if an audit is granted, appoint an auditor and review the audit report;
• decide whether legal proceedings shall be commenced following the results of an audit; and
• decide whether to commence a legal proceeding against a contributor for an apparent contravention, if applicable.

Request an Election Compliance Audit

If you are an elector who is eligible to vote in a municipal election and believes on reasonable grounds that a candidate or third party advertiser has contravened the Municipal Elections Act, relating to election campaign finances, you can request an audit for the candidate or third party advertiser's campaign finances. 

Requests for an Election Compliance Audit from the 2022 Municipal Election can be made between Friday, March 31, 2023 and Thursday, June 29, 2023. Requests can be directed to Legislative Services by phone at 519-396-3468 x 7111 or by email.
